New guided tour from the series “Darmstadt Crime History(ies)”
A new Darmstadt mystery: "William Shakespeare in Darmstadt"—a headline that never existed. Yet his death mask, supposedly depicting the famous English playwright's face after his death, is kept in Darmstadt. The mask has a turbulent history. Following the trail of this controversial artifact, tour guide Matthias Lothhammer sets out to uncover more about the people and the story behind it.

The tour promises not only an encounter with Shakespeare, but also an exciting journey of discovery into the world of theatre, the Darmstadt archives, libraries, museums and the Darmstadt court during the time of the Grand Dukes .
Date and ticket sales
The guided tour will take place on Sunday, February 23, 2025, at 3:00 p.m. and will last 90 minutes . The meeting point is in front of the entrance to the Residenz Palace, at the gate on the south side opposite the market square .
