An unusual reading format will premiere on April 23rd
In cooperation with the library of Riedstadt, the bookstore Faktotum is launching a new event format: On Thursday, April 23, 2026, the “Silent Book Club Ried” will take place for the first time in the Erfelden library.
Reading together – without any program
The concept is deliberately kept simple: Each participant brings their own book and reads silently on their own for about an hour. There is no reading aloud and no set procedure.
Afterwards, there will be an opportunity to discuss what you have read. There is no age limit – this offer is for everyone who enjoys reading.
Trend from the USA reaches the region
The "Silent Book Club" format originated in San Francisco and has since spread internationally. Meetings of this kind are already taking place in German cities such as Darmstadt and Kassel.
Further dates already planned
The premiere will take place on April 23rd at 7:30 pm in the Erfelden library (Wilhelm-Leuschner-Straße 21a). Registration is not required, and admission is free.
Further meetings are already planned:
- September 2026 at the Erfelden library
- September 2026 in the Goddelau youth center
October 22, 2026 in the Wolfskehlen youth center
The new format aims to create a relaxed atmosphere where reading is a shared experience.
