Four bench models will be available for voting from June 17th
The science city of Darmstadt invites all citizens from June 17, 2025 on new benches for Ernst-Ludwig-Straße and Ludwigsstrasse . four different bank models to choose from , which can now be tested Ernst-Ludwigs-Platz The aim is to improve quality of stay in the city center

The planned renewal takes place as part of the federal funding program "Central inner cities and centers" (ZIZ) . The new seating should functional, durable and inviting . Mayor Hanno Benz explains:
"We are actively involved in the design of our city center. Your opinion is important to us because you decide what the future quality of stay in Darmstadt should look like."
Planning director Michael Kolmer also emphasizes the importance of citizenship design:
"A well thought -out, appealing city furniture is important so that people like to stay in the city center. Now the citizens are asked to choose their favorites."
Vote four benches to choose from - analogous and digitally
All four test benches consist of a stable metal construction with certified Douglasia wood , can be used on one or two sides and differ in the design. The vote runs for about a month-either on site by postcard (boxes are ready for the benches) or digitally via QR code and via the city's social media channels .
The ZIZ program has already promoted projects such as bank exchange in Wilhelminenstrasse , green pop-up furniture or the use of vacancies for pop-up stores .
