League match day and individual championships with mixed results
The Gräfenhausen skat players have kicked off the new season and simultaneously competed in the Hessian Individual Championships. The teams collected their first points in league play and gained valuable experience at the state level.
Mixed start in the Landesliga
A team consisting of Hilde Vowinkel, Klaus Klingelhöfer, Michael Geißer, Henry Deutzer, and Kerstin Banyay competed in the South Hessian State League. On the first match day, the team achieved a score of 2:7 and is currently in 15th place.
Solid start in the 3rd Bundesliga
The first team of the Skatfreunde Gräfenhausen started in the 3rd Bundesliga Staffel Süd with Sascha Dechert, Martin Steiger, Andreas Färber, Martina Schmidt and Jürgen Führer.
The competition day was a mixed bag: While the team secured a perfect 3:0 victory in the first series, they failed to score any points in the second. In the third series, the Gräfenhausen team engaged in a thrilling duel, but ultimately fell short in the final stretch, receiving a 2:1 score.
With a total of 5:4 ranking points, the team is in a solid seventh place in the middle of the field after the first match day.
Participation in the Hessian Individual Championships
At the same time, the Skat enthusiasts from Gräfenhausen were represented by five participants at the Hessian Individual Championships, where qualification for the German Championships was also played.
Martina Schmidt achieved the best result, finishing in fifth place. Jürgen Führer came in 32nd, Martin Steiger 44th, and Andreas Färber 46th. Sascha Dechert, who was also involved in the tournament management, finished in 67th place.
Training offer in Gräfenhausen
The Gräfenhausen Skat Club offers regular practice evenings. These take place on Wednesdays at 7 pm in the club's premises, "Gamebox," on Schneppenhäuser Straße in Weiterstadt-Gräfenhausen. Guest players are welcome.
