A mixed season with some notable successes
The 2025 season was a mixed bag for the Gräfenhausen skat club from a sporting perspective. At the annual general meeting on January 7th, the chairman, Sascha Dechert, reviewed the most important events and results of the past twelve months.
The club achieved a notable success in March, finishing second in the South Hesse regional team championship. However, success eluded them at the next higher qualification level: in September, the players only managed 27th place. The preliminary round of the German Cities Cup in May also ended with a 6th place finish, meaning they clearly missed out on participation in the main event in October.
In the middle of the year, the club also drew consequences from the sporting and organizational demands and, following relegation from the 1st Online Bundesliga, withdrew completely from this gaming platform due to a lack of time. The first team's participation in the 3rd Bundesliga in 2026, despite being in a relegation position, is only possible because another club withdrew its application.
In the South Hesse regional league, the second team of the Gräfenhausen Skat Club achieved a solid seventh place out of a total of 16 participating teams. The cup competition also started positively: Gräfenhausen I confidently took the lead after four match days and qualified for the final event in December, for which the second team was also subsequently registered. However, both teams fell short of expectations there, finishing in 16th and 23rd place respectively.
Even in the tandem competition, after successfully qualifying in the preliminary round, the journey ended at the next level. The duo from Gräfenhausen did not manage to get higher than 18th place.
Nevertheless, there was a sporting highlight at club level: Martina Schmidt became club champion 2025, winning by a clear margin over Jürgen Führer and Martin Steiger.
