Final brochure shows 23 years of urban development in the Kranichstein funding area
The project "Hochhausquartier Kranichstein - New Image" was elected in the nationwide Prize for Social City in 2025 among the 15 best initiatives and was recognized with recognition. A total of over 100 projects from all over Germany were submitted. The award ceremony took place on May 6th in the Berlin city mission.
final brochure for the federal-state program "Social City" for the Kranichstein support area was published by the science city of Darmstadt Between 2000 and 2023, numerous measures were implemented with a total volume of more than ten million euros from the federal government, the state of Hesse and the city to improve the quality of living and life.
The central projects include:
- The new building of the Chillmo youth café
- The redesign of the Brentano facility into a district park with sundeck
- The creation of a city square on the redesigned Bartningstraße
- Diverse participation formats for citizens
Mayor Barbara Akdeniz emphasizes: "With the final brochure, we can look back on 23 years of committed neighborhood and urban development. The close cooperation between the administration, district workshop and the citizens was crucial for success."
Planning director Michael Kolmer emphasizes: "The redesign of the high -rise accommodation shows how targeted image work and citizens -friendly planning can lead to visible improvements. The award at the 'Social City' price confirms this path."
