The city will be included in a nationwide urban development funding program.
The town of Weiterstadt has been officially accepted into the urban development funding program "Social Cohesion" . On Thursday, December 4, 2025, Heike Hofmann , Hessian Minister for Labor, Integration, Youth and Social Affairs, presented the corresponding funding notification to the town in Wiesbaden.
The "Social Cohesion" program supports neighborhoods nationwide with special development needs. Its goal is to create long-term and sustainable prospects in these districts through targeted investments and the active involvement of residents. Starting in 2025, selected municipalities will benefit from funding that will enable both construction projects and social initiatives.
A key focus of the program is citizen participation . Their ideas, needs, and suggestions will be incorporated into the planning from the outset. Plans include establishing a neighborhood management office to serve as a contact point for residents and coordinate participatory processes.
Mayor Ralf Möller and Markus Ries , Head of the Youth and Integration Department, personally accepted the funding notification on behalf of the town of Weiterstadt Riedbahn area and see it as a crucial opportunity to strengthen social structures and shape the neighborhood for the future together with the local residents.
