New specialist supports counselling for older people
The City of Darmstadt has announced that the team at the Social Services and Counseling Center (SuB) has been expanded. Susanne Stiehler recently joined the existing team.
The service center has been advising elderly people and their relatives in all districts since 1999 and provides support with questions about social benefits, everyday organization or applications, among other things.
Responding to increasing demand for advice
Mayor Barbara Akdeniz sees the increased staffing as an important response to societal developments. The growing number of elderly people brings with it diverse needs for advice and support, which the city wants to address with additional resources.
The aim is to provide both central and local contact points for different concerns.
Extensive range of advisory services in all city districts
The service center offers a wide range of support, including:
- Information on social benefits
- Help with applications
- Organization of everyday assistance
- Housing advice
- psychosocial counseling
Opportunities for voluntary work are also presented.
Well-established team with new management
Since mid-2025, the service center has been headed by Nadja Wolf. She is supported by a team of experienced staff members, including Irina Höllwarth and Simone Blank.
The service center sees itself as a guide to the social services offered by the city and supports older people in finding suitable services.
Accessibility of the service center
The staff of the service center can be reached:
Monday to Thursday: 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Friday: 8 a.m. to 12 p.m.
