German-Israeli Society calls for demonstration at Peace Square
The German-Israeli Society of Darmstadt, together with Iranian exiles, is calling for a solidarity rally in Darmstadt. The event will take place on Thursday, March 5, 2026, at 6:30 p.m. in Friedensplatz (Peace Square).
The rally is intended to send a message of support for the Iranian freedom movement and for the State of Israel.
Solidarity with the protest movement in Iran
According to the organizers, the demonstration is directed against the decades-long rule of the Islamic Republic in Iran. The organizers accuse the leadership in Tehran of serious human rights violations, including repression of opposition members, restrictions on women's rights, and persecution of minorities.
Philip Krämer, chairman of DIG Darmstadt, stated in the announcement of the event that solidarity was shown to the people in Iran who are fighting for freedom and democratic rights.
Criticism of threats against Israel
According to the organizers, another focus of the rally is support for Israel. The German-Israeli Society (DIG) in Darmstadt points to the long-standing tensions between Iran and Israel, as well as the Iranian regime's support for militant groups in the Middle East.
Anika Schmütz, board member of DIG Darmstadt, emphasized in this context the importance of political change in Iran for the stability of the region.
Call for participation
The organizers are calling on citizens to participate in the rally and to send a public message in support of freedom in Iran and the security of Israel.
The assembly will begin on March 5th at 6:30 pm at Friedensplatz in Darmstadt.
