24-hour speed enforcement campaign “South Hesse is on the move” – over 200 violations detected
As the police report, officers conducted targeted speed checks for 24 hours starting at 6 a.m. on Thursday (November 13) as part of the "South Hesse Speeds" . Checks were carried out in the districts of Groß-Gerau, Bergstraße, and Darmstadt-Dieburg, in the Odenwald district, and in the city of Darmstadt. The operation was launched because excessive speed plays a decisive role in approximately one in three serious or fatal traffic accidents.
2,046 vehicles were inspected and 216 road users were stopped for speeding. The results vary depending on the checkpoint.
Few violations in Erbach and Gernsheim
No violations were found
at the intersection of Gemeindestraße and Eulbacher Straße in Erbach In Gernsheim , on state road 3112 near the Erlengrundschneise (70 km/h zone), officers recorded only a single violation.
Significant exceedances in Pfungstadt and Darmstadt
The police report particularly serious cases from two areas:
- Pfungstadt, B426 / Klingsackerstraße: A driver was measured at 135 km/h – the speed limit is 70 km/h.
- Darmstadt, B26 in the area of the City Tunnel: Another vehicle was stopped at 62 km/h , although 30 km/h is permitted there.
Another incident: Driving without a license
On state road 3094 at the entrance to Wallerstädten, officers determined that a 43-year-old driver from Groß-Gerau was driving without a valid driver's license. Another driver was clocked at 123 km/h in a 70 km/h zone.
Police announce further checks
, regular and unannounced will continue throughout southern Hesse . The police appeal to all road users to observe speed limits and to drive carefully and with foresight.
