EAD expands its service offerings for private households – No registration required – Collection points on Röntgenstraße and Sensfelderweg
The municipal services department (EAD) is now offering Darmstadt residents free disposal of typical household bulky waste . The offer runs until Thursday, October 2, 2025 , and is a response to the recent increase in demand for bulky waste collection appointments.
Free delivery is available at two locations:
- Recycling center, Sensfelderweg 33
- Darmstadt Recycling Center (DRZ), Röntgenstraße 12
prior telephone registration is required ; delivery is once per day per household Commercial bulky waste and complete household clearances are excluded .
Sustainability in focus
City treasurer André Schellenberg emphasizes the importance of the expanded offering:
"In terms of the circular economy, it's worth taking a look at Darmstadt's second-hand goods store KAGEL . Anyone who has usable furniture or functioning appliances to give away should check whether they can be reused."
Bulky waste includes all household items that do not fit into the regular waste bin , such as furniture, carpets, or large household items.
Opening hours of the acceptance points
Recycling center Sensfelderweg 33
- Monday, Tuesday, Thursday: 8 a.m. to 5 p.m
- Wednesday: 1–6 p.m
- Friday: 8 a.m. to 4 p.m
- Saturday: 9 a.m. – 1 p.m
DRZ Röntgenstraße 12
- Monday to Friday: 6 a.m. to 4 p.m
- Saturday: 8–12 am
