Why distance to animals and plants is so important - tips for observation of nature
Groß-Gerau district. The diverse landscapes in the Groß-Gerau district- from floodplain forests to orchards to dry grass- offer habitat for numerous rare animal and plant species. This variety also attracts nature photographers and walkers. But the desire to see or photograph special ways can become a problem unintentionally.
The Lower Nature Conservation Authority of the Groß-Gerau district warns into account: even short disorders can stress sensitive animals, impair or even pass them away. The Wiedenhopf is particularly affected - with only 20 to 40 breeding pairs in Hesse, it is considered to be very endangered. The striking bird reacts particularly sensitively during the breeding season. In the worst case, a photo up close can lead to the clutch being abandoned.
Tips for nature -friendly behavior in sensitive areas:
- Observe by far: observe animals only from a distance and stay on the paths so as not to affect their habitat.
- Do not publish location information: Exact locations of endangered species should not be shared on social media in order to avoid the rush of visitors and disorders.
- Information beforehand: Brochures and online information on protected areas help to behave respectfully.
- Report observations: If you discover rare species, you can submit your observations about the registration portal of HLNUG:

Species protection begins with consideration - this applies to everyone who moves in nature. Those who behave carefully make a valuable contribution to the preservation of domestic biodiversity.
