Three sports coaches accompany projects for integration and participation
"Sport Integrates Hesse" in 2025. The funding provided will enable sports clubs to further expand their integration work, exercise programs for socially disadvantaged people, and social participation measures. Due to a delay at the state level, the funds could not be accessed until the summer holidays this year.
Sport connects people regardless of language or origin. Through their volunteer work, Griesheim's sports clubs make an important contribution to social cohesion – work that is specifically supported by the state program. Funding includes sports and exercise programs, material resources such as sports clothing and equipment, travel expenses, and the work of sports coaches , who act as a link between clubs, initiatives, and participants.
Three sports coaches for Griesheim
There are currently three sports coaches available in Griesheim:
- Kathrin Witteborg , who works full-time and on a voluntary basis at TuS Griesheim, takes on an important interface function between the clubs.
- Maria-Luise Lenhardt , also a trainer at TuS Griesheim, is particularly committed to opening up the sport to all target groups in triathlon.
- Armin Vilic , a full-time refugee worker, emphasizes: "Sports make it easier to overcome language barriers. Sport is a great support for integration."
The sports coaches jointly emphasize: "Sports and clubs are an optimal platform for participation and integration. Everyone can participate in sports – regardless of cultural background, physical or mental characteristics, social status, or age. The program enables us to develop tailored measures locally with the clubs."
