160 athletes honored at sports gala in the town hall
As the Groß-Gerau district reports, around 160 athletes were honored for their achievements in 2025 at the sports gala in the Groß-Gerau town hall. A total of approximately 270 guests attended the event.
Awards for outstanding achievements
Viktoria Zimmermann of the Rüsselsheim Rowing Club was honored as Sportswoman of the Year. Christian Klein of Power Gym Wiesbaden received the award for Sportsman of the Year. The dance group "Energy" of the Groß-Gerau Gymnastics Club 1846 was recognized as Team of the Year.
The winners each received a trophy and prize money. They represent numerous successes at the national and international level.
The breadth of the sport is visible in the circle
In addition to the main prize winners, numerous other athletes and teams were honored for their achievements at Hessian, German, and international championships. The range of sports represented spanned from track and field and judo to speed skating, rope skipping, and indoor hockey.
Entertainment and sporting message
The event was hosted by presenter Christian Döring. The program was complemented by show performances from the fields of acrobatics and circus arts.
District Administrator Thomas Will emphasized the importance of sports for health, community, and civic engagement. He also highlighted the close cooperation between the district sports association, clubs, and the district administration, as well as ongoing initiatives to promote physical activity among all age groups.
Sport as a role model for the future
The outstanding athletes are considered important role models for young athletes in the Groß-Gerau district. Their achievements contribute to the sustainable strengthening of sports in the region.
