Nature, the planet trail and the rapeseed blossom delight 27 participants of the Dornheim hiking group
The hiking group "Pädscherstrampler" of SG Dornheim undertook their April hike last weekend – this time around the municipality of Trebur. Despite a cloudy start, 27 hiking enthusiasts gathered at the town hall square. The first leg led towards the roundabout, where a special highlight awaited: the scale model of the planets created by the Trebur Astronomy Foundation.
The group passed the inner planets Mercury, Venus, Earth, and Mars on one side, and then – with increasing distance – continued its journey to the outer planets Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, and Neptune. The display, with its explanatory panels, impressively illustrated the dimensions of our solar system.
The group then hiked through fields and meadows around Trebur, where the cloud cover thinned and the spring sun shone brightly. Yellow rapeseed fields and green meadows dominated the landscape. They took their first break at the seating pebbles in Nauheim, under old oak trees. A second break followed at the blossoming orchard in Nauheim, where Gisela and Hartmut served apple schnapps for refreshment.
The return route followed the Luther Trail to St. Lawrence Church, which may have been built on the foundations of the former royal palace. From there, the group walked along the Schwarzbach stream back to the starting point at the town hall. The final stop was at the "Eigenheim" restaurant, where the group thanked their guide, Hartwig Fleissner, for the successful tour with a refreshing drink.
