Holiday courses, workshops, Sunday Sessions and Museum Embankment Festival in Frankfurt
The Städel Museum in Frankfurt offers a diverse program of events in August 2026, centered around its collection spanning more than 700 years and the current special exhibitions “Elmgreen & Dragset. Still Lifes with Vegetables” and “Bruegel. Printed”.
Children and teenagers between the ages of six and 16 can also look forward to a varied program during the summer holidays. In the holiday courses, they can, among other things, work with upcycled materials, create their own comics, and try out various artistic techniques.
Creative evening and art in dialogue
The Städel Atelier evening “Sparkling Light Effects – Painting Workshop” on Thursday, August 13, from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., will focus on the effects of light. After a short guided tour on light reflections and refractions in works from the Städel collection, participants will create their own water reflections using paint and brush on paper.
On Thursday, August 20th, at 7:30 pm, the event "Symbols Special: All Satire!?". An art educator and a theologian will examine a selected work together with the participants from artistic, religious and ethical perspectives.
Music, art and Museum Embankment Festival
The Städel Sunday Sessions enter their second round on Sunday, August 23, from 4 pm to 8 pm. The program includes jam sessions by the Horst Collective, guided tours, drinks, and culinary offerings.
From August 28th to 30th, the Städel Museum will also participate in the Frankfurt Museum Embankment Festival. Guided tours, exhibition visits, and workshops for children are planned.
