Over 1,000 responses to the "Transform-R" project – online participation and workshops planned
Since March 4, 2025, 14 colorful pieces of street furniture have been enhancing the quality of life in Groß-Gerau's city center. The elements were initiated by the FrankfurtRheinMain Regional Association as part of the "Transform-R" and provided free of charge by the state of Hesse through the "Rediscovering Streets" . The project also receives federal funding and is being scientifically evaluated.
Feedback shows a high willingness to participate
More than 1,000 responses within two months demonstrate the high level of public interest in shaping their city center. The suggestions received range from requests for more parking spaces to ideas for a potential pedestrian zone on Darmstädter Straße.
“We are delighted by the great interest in the project. It underlines the importance of this inner-city area – both for residents of Groß-Gerau and for visitors,” said the Department of Urban Planning and Construction.
Initial measures have already been implemented
In response to the feedback, the building yard installed two additional waste bins on Darmstädter Straße – a frequently expressed wish in connection with the expanded seating area.
Traffic monitoring uncovers abuses
A traffic monitoring device is providing insights into the use of Darmstädter Straße. It has been observed that speeds of up to 100 km/h are repeatedly reached in the evenings – in a 30 km/h zone. The city administration sees a need for action and points to the increased noise pollution for residents.
Participation formats and online survey
Further participation opportunities:
- Workshop for citizens on June 3rd, 7 pm , at the City Museum
→ Registration via www.gross-gerau.de required
online questionnaire will soon be published, allowing all citizens to easily contribute their ideas – regardless of location and anonymously.
Instructions for using the information kiosk
Unfortunately, the information kiosk installed in the city center has been misused: empty feedback slips and dirt are impairing the system's functionality. The city is therefore also pointing out the option of online participation via QR code .
Goal: To jointly create a vibrant city center
The city of Groß-Gerau thanks all participants and continues to invite them to actively participate in the development of the city center. The goal is an attractive, livable city center that meets the needs of all generations.
