Innovative “Transform-R” project is promoting sustainable urban development
On Tuesday, March 4, 2025, Darmstädter Straße in Groß-Gerau will be temporarily closed to deliver the new city furniture of the "Transform-R" project. As the press office of the city of Groß-Gerau reports, the district town takes part in this initiative as one of three pilot municipalities, which is organized by the regional association Frankfurtrheinmain and funded by the federal government.
Darmstädter Straße is blocked from 9:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Already at the beginning of March 4, there is a ban on parking and holding on the affected areas between the Darmstädter bakery (Darmstädter Straße 32) and the Frankfurter Straße intersection .
Which areas are affected?
🚧 Road closure:
- Darmstädter Straße is closed from the intersection of Klein-Gerauer-Straße and Friedrichstrasse .
- Access to Mittelstraße and Otto-Wels-Straße are not possible via Helwigstrasse.
- Residents of Otto-Wels-Straße can continue to drive the area.
🅿️ Parking areas:
- Six existing parking spaces and a charging zone in front of the Braun children's home are preserved.
- city furniture will be installed on the other parking lots .

The “Transform-R” project pursues the goal of creating sustainable city quarters, promoting energy and mobility transition The measure is initially limited to six months and is intended to test innovative usage concepts for the city.
