Groß-Gerau district presents itself at Europe's largest real estate fair in Munich
The Groß-Gerau district Expo Real in Munich , Europe's leading real estate trade fair, this year District Administrator Thomas Will, along with the district's economic development agency, the event to South Hesse as a business location and to strengthen contacts in the real estate industry. "Expo Real remains the leading trade fair for the real estate industry in Germany and Europe. It's exciting to see what developments and trends the industry is producing," said Will.
Panel discussion on start-up culture in the region
In the South Hesse section of the trade fair, District Administrator Will spoke at the Rhein Main Metropolarena together with Christel Sprößler (Darmstadt-Dieburg District) and Michael Kolmer (Science City of Darmstadt). Moderated by Anja Herdel (Darmstadt Marketing GmbH), the discussion centered on the topic of "Media, Gaming, Greentech: Startups and Business Start-ups in South Hesse .
Prof. Dr. Ahrend , member of the board of HEAG Holding AG , introduced the topic and presented the dynamic development of the start-up scene in the region.
Support for founders in the Groß-Gerau district
District Administrator Will highlighted the long-standing support for startups Margit Kühner launched "existenZündung" initiative 30 years ago free advice, workshops, and networking events .
Since 2022, the initiative has had a digital tool, existenZündungs app startup knowledge, events, and regional contacts . "This enables us to connect founders in a targeted way and provide practical support," says Will.
Future industries: Gaming and Greentech
While Darmstadt increasingly focusing on gaming with hub31 start-up center , the Groß-Gerau district sees its strength in the greentech .
The Technology, Innovation, and Business Startup Center (TIGZ) supports startups focused on climate-neutral business, digitalization, and sustainable mobility EcoGPact accelerator program . Furthermore, the Cluster-Ryon at the Greentech Park Fluxum in Gernsheim —supported by the State of Hesse, WI-Bank, HTAI, Goethe University, TU Darmstadt, and Merck—offers state-of-the-art laboratory and pilot plant infrastructure to young companies in the fields of chemistry, biotechnology, and engineering .
Common vision for the region
At the end, the participants reaffirmed their shared commitment to further expand cooperation in South Hesse. The goal is to leverage regional synergies , strengthen entrepreneurial spirit further improve the framework conditions for startups
