The Groß-Gerau district presents itself at Europe's largest real estate fair in Munich
The Groß-Gerau district Expo Real in Munich this year , Europe's leading real estate trade fair. District Administrator Thomas Will, together with the district's economic development agency, the event to southern Hesse as a business location and to strengthen contacts within the real estate sector. "Expo Real remains the leading trade fair for the real estate industry in Germany and Europe. It's exciting to see the developments and trends emerging in the sector," said Will.
Panel discussion on start-up culture in the region
In the South Hesse roundtable at the trade fair, District Administrator Will spoke in the Rhine-Main Metropolitan Arena together with Christel Sprößler (Darmstadt-Dieburg district) and Michael Kolmer (City of Darmstadt). Moderated by Anja Herdel (Darmstadt Marketing GmbH), the discussion revolved around the topic of "Media, Gaming, Greentech: Start-ups and business start-ups in South Hesse" .
Prof. Dr. Ahrend , board member of HEAG Holding AG , introduced the topic and presented the dynamic development of the start-up scene in the region.
Support for entrepreneurs in the Groß-Gerau district
District Administrator Will pointed to the long-standing support for start-ups Margit Kühner launched "existenZündung" initiative 30 years ago free consultations, workshops, and networking events .
Since 2022, the initiative has had a digital tool, existenZündungs app entrepreneurial knowledge, events, and regional contacts . "This allows us to connect founders in a targeted way and provide them with practical support," says Will.
Future industries: Gaming and Greentech
While Darmstadt increasingly focusing on gaming hub31 startup center , the Groß-Gerau district sees its strength in the field of greentech .
The Technology, Innovation and Start-up Center (TIGZ) supports start-ups focused on climate-neutral business practices, digitalization, and sustainable mobility EcoGPact accelerator program . Furthermore, the Cluster-Ryon in the Greentech Park Fluxum in Gernsheim – supported by the State of Hesse, WI-Bank, HTAI, Goethe University, TU Darmstadt, and Merck – offers young companies in the fields of chemistry, biotechnology, and engineering state-of-the-art laboratory and pilot plant infrastructure.
A shared vision for the region
In conclusion, the participants reaffirmed their shared commitment to further expanding cooperation in southern Hesse. The goal is to leverage regional synergies strengthen the further improve the framework conditions for start-ups
