The district association and parliamentary group agree to rejoin after consultations.
As the CDU Darmstadt announced, Stefan Zitzmann has rejoined the party and been accepted into the city council group. This decision followed intensive discussions between Zitzmann and CDU representatives. Both the district executive committee and the parliamentary group addressed the re-entry in their meetings and, after deliberation, approved it.
CDU district chairman Paul Georg Wandrey emphasizes the importance of constructive political discourse in his statement: “Politics needs an open culture of communication, even when there are major differences – and it needs the ability to overcome these differences. If we want to take responsibility for our city, we must address conflicts openly and still find ways to work together again. That is part of a politics with conviction, plain speaking, and respect.”
Stefan Zitzmann also explained his decision to return: “The CDU is my political home. I want to contribute to ensuring that it becomes as strong as possible in the local elections – in the interest of responsible, pragmatic politics for Darmstadt and to prevent left-wing alliances. I call on everyone to support this path, and I will dedicate myself to it with all my strength.”
With the reinstatement of Zitzmann, the party and parliamentary group underline their commitment to exercising political responsibility based on dialogue and mutual respect – even after controversial phases.
