Students design motifs for more cleanliness – 400 trash cans are covered
An unusual project for more cleanliness in public spaces is starting in Weiterstadt: In the coming weeks, around 400 trash cans in the city will be decorated with colorful stickers designed by students from the Albrecht Dürer School.
Kick-off with mayor and award winners
, Nisanur Cekircek, Marlene Hamm, and Mara Unruh, along with Mayor Ralf Möller, officially kicked off the event at the calisthenics facility. Despite the rainy weather, the students applied the first stickers themselves – a symbolic moment for the joint project between the city administration and the school.
"These stickers are more than just decoration," Möller emphasized. "They represent creativity, participation, and a strong message from young people for more cleanliness in public spaces."
Competition with creativity and humor
This summer, students from the Albrecht Dürer School, under the guidance of Selma Dogan and Nora Schmöckel, submitted numerous designs. Three designs particularly impressed the jury and were implemented. With humorous, eye-catching designs, the stickers will serve as a charming reminder to dispose of waste properly.
Construction yard brings motifs to the city
The stickers will be gradually applied to trash cans by municipal public works employees, particularly in high-traffic areas such as playgrounds, school routes, and parks. "For our students, this is a great recognition of their work—and perhaps also an incentive for further creative projects," the teachers explained.
