Maglica and Hornby score for Darmstadt in their DFB Cup opening match
SV Darmstadt 98 fulfilled their duty in the first round of the DFB Cup, defeating fourth-division side VfB Lübeck 2-1 (1-0). Filip Stojilkovic Maglica put the visitors from southern Hesse ahead in the 34th minute, and Fraser Hornby doubled the lead in the 73rd minute with a header from a Clemens Riedel cross. Darmstadt defended solidly for much of the match, conceding few chances, before Lübeck pulled one back through Becken in stoppage time. However, Darmstadt's progression to the next round was never in doubt.
