SV Darmstadt 98 suffered a clear 1-4 defeat against Magdeburg after taking the lead
Despite a strong start and an early lead, SV Darmstadt 98 suffered a clear 1-4 defeat in their away match against 1. FC Magdeburg. The Lilies took the lead in the first half through Hornby, but after Magdeburg equalized, they lost control of the game and conceded three further goals in the closing stages.
Early lead, then collapse in the second half
The game started at a high tempo on both sides. After a strong cross from Jean-Paul Boëtius, Hornby put Darmstadt ahead in the 29th minute. After the break, Darmstadt initially had a chance to make it 2-0, but instead Magdeburg surprisingly equalized through Amaechi (56'). Magdeburg then completely took control of the game and turned it around: Burcu (73'), El-Zein (78') and Kaars (80') sealed a resounding defeat for Darmstadt.
