Friendly match against partner club San Antonio FC planned
Darmstadt. SV Darmstadt 98 will use international break in March 2026 to travel to its US twin city, San Antonio, Texas March 22 to 28, 2026 , the Lilies will be in the United States and will play a friendly match against San Antonio FC (SAFC) Wednesday, March 25. The goal of the trip is to deepen existing relations with the twin city and promote exchange in sporting, cultural, and social areas.
Focus on exchange and partnership
"It's truly special that we, as SV Darmstadt 98, will be traveling to the USA next year and thus writing a piece of Lilies history," explained Vice President Markus Pfitzner . The partnership arose from the close connection between Darmstadt and San Antonio and is constantly evolving.
Pfitzner also emphasized the importance of the exchange: "We will use this opportunity to represent our values as Lilies overseas. In addition to the friendly match, we look forward to getting to know the local community, building new networks, and becoming active in the social sphere."
Cooperation with DFL and Spurs Sports & Entertainment
Managing Director Martin Kowalewski also emphasized the significance of the trip: "The trip to the USA is another milestone in our collaboration with San Antonio and San Antonio FC. We are delighted to be representing SV Darmstadt 98 in the DFL's target market, the USA, during the World Cup year."
SV 98 is working closely with the DFL Deutsche Fußball Liga (German Football League) , which is strengthening the global visibility of the Bundesliga as part of its international strategy.
During the stay in Texas, in addition to the friendly match on March 25 , training sessions at the SAFC grounds , meetings with representatives from both cities , and cultural and social activities are planned.
