After five competitive matches without a loss, SV Darmstadt 98 suffered their first defeat on Friday evening. The Lilies lost 1-0 (0-1) league leaders FC Schalke 04. An early goal from Sylla clinched the match in favor of the hosts, while the South Hesse side failed to score despite a committed performance.
In a hard-fought encounter, the 98ers lacked that final bit of luck. Coach Florian Kohfeldt brought on fresh players after the break – including Paul Will , who returned from a lengthy injury layoff – but even in the closing stages, they were unable to equalize.
