After five unbeaten matches in all competitions, SV Darmstadt 98 suffered their first defeat on Friday evening. The Lilies lost 0-1 (0-1) league leaders FC Schalke 04. An early goal from Sylla decided the game in favor of the hosts, while the visitors from southern Hesse failed to find the net despite a spirited performance.
In a hard-fought match overall, Hannover 98 lacked that final bit of luck in front of goal. Coach Florian Kohfeldt brought on fresh legs after the break – including Paul Will , who returned after a long injury layoff – but even in the closing stages, the equalizer eluded them.
