Clemens Maurer's successor will take office on December 1, 2025
The shareholders' meeting of Klinikum Darmstadt GmbH has appointed Sven Axt as the new Commercial Managing Director and Spokesperson of the Management Board. He will assume the position on December 1, 2025, succeeding Clemens Maurer, who is leaving the company at the end of the year at his own request.
Change at the top of the clinic
“With Sven Axt, we are gaining a proven hospital manager with extensive experience. We are very pleased that he has chosen our hospital. In view of the upcoming establishment of a holding company with the Agaplesion Elisabethenstift, it is particularly important to have a strong management team. We are convinced that he will master this demanding task together with the staff,” said Supervisory Board Chairman and Head of Hospital Affairs, André Schellenberg.
Motivation and goals
Sven Axt emphasizes his anticipation for the new role:
“My motivation for moving to Darmstadt is to help shape the innovative merger of the two hospitals and to further advance the future viability of the Darmstadt Clinic, both medically and economically. I am particularly looking forward to working with Dr. Jörg Noetzel and Michele Tarquinio on the management team. I would also like to thank Mr. Maurer, who successfully developed the hospital over many years.”
Professional background
The 39-year-old business administration graduate most recently served as Head of Finance, Controlling and Taxes and as Deputy Chief Financial Officer of the University Medical Center Mainz. Prior to that, he completed the management trainee and assistant program at Helios Kliniken GmbH and, from 2014 onwards, managed various Helios locations – most recently as Cluster Manager of the Helios Clinics Wiesbaden/Taunus.
Sven Axt is married, a father of two, and lives with his family near Aschaffenburg. His appointment, effective December 1, 2025, is intended to ensure a seamless transition in management.
