Clemens Maurer's successor takes office on 1 December 2025
The shareholders' meeting of Klinikum Darmstadt GmbH has appointed Sven Axt as the new Commercial Managing Director and Spokesperson of the Management Board. He will assume the position on December 1, 2025, succeeding Clemens Maurer, who will be leaving the company at his own request at the end of the year.
Change at the top of the clinic
"With Sven Axt, we are gaining a proven hospital manager with extensive experience. We are very pleased that he has chosen our hospital. Given the upcoming establishment of a holding company with the Agaplesion Elisabethenstift, it is particularly important to have a strong management team. We are confident that he will successfully manage this challenging task together with the staff," said André Schellenberg, Chairman of the Supervisory Board and Head of Hospital Management.
Motivation and goals
Sven Axt emphasizes his excitement about his new role:
"My motivation for moving to Darmstadt is to help shape the innovative merger of the two hospitals and to further advance the future viability of the Darmstadt Hospital, both medically and economically. I am particularly looking forward to working with Dr. Jörg Noetzel and Michele Tarquinio in the management team. My thanks also go to Mr. Maurer, who has successfully developed the hospital over many years."
Professional background
The 39-year-old business economist most recently served as Head of Finance, Controlling, and Taxes and Deputy Chief Commercial Officer at Mainz University Medical Center. Prior to that, he completed the Management Trainee and Assistant Program at Helios Kliniken GmbH and, starting in 2014, managed various Helios locations—most recently as Cluster Managing Director of Helios Kliniken Wiesbaden/Taunus.
Sven Axt is married, the father of two children, and lives with his family near Aschaffenburg. His appointment on December 1, 2025, is intended to ensure a seamless transition in management.
