Clean streets for more safety in autumn
Griesheim. With the arrival of autumn, the city of Griesheim all property owners to fulfill their sweeping obligations . Falling leaves on sidewalks and streets quickly create slip hazards for pedestrians and clog gullies when the leaves are washed down storm drains.
"At the end of September, all gullies in the city were emptied by a specialist company to ensure unhindered drainage. However, since this cleaning only occurs once a year, the gullies can quickly become clogged with leaves," the city administration announced. As a result, large puddles can form and impair street drainage.
Blind gullies and proximity to trees
In some places in the city, there are so-called "blind" gullies , usually near trees. These are not connected to the sewer system and serve only to irrigate trees in their early years . They have no dirt traps and are now consolidated by roots, so cleaning is unnecessary.
