City treasurer Schellenberg: "Darmstadt contributes to sustainable mobility with electric vehicles"
At the day of electromobility on Sunday, May 18, on the marketplace in Darmstadt, the own company for municipal tasks and services (EAD) of the science city of Darmstadt shows a selection of its electric vehicles from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. The EAD also provides information about sustainable drive technologies in municipal use.
The presentation takes place as part of the mobility regulations introduced in 2018, with which the magistrate has committed to gradually switching to electric drives in the municipal fleet. The EAD takes over the implementation and coordinates mobility for urban administration.
"Electric vehicles do not emit any pollutants and run low -noise," emphasizes city treasurer André Schellenberg. "With the focus of this form of drive in its duty vehicles, the science city of Darmstadt makes its contribution to a sustainable locomotion."
The municipal fleet currently consists of around 120 electric vehicles, including 60 in the EAD existence. In addition to electric cars, the fleet also includes pedelecs, cargo bikes, trailers and self-driving machines. They are used, among other things, in waste disposal, street cleaning, transport services for schools and daycare centers as well as for general business trips.
The vehicles are charged at 82 charging points at various urban locations, including the Sensfelderweg, the Nordbad, the composting system and the forest cemetery.
