Tango concert and milonga on April 30th in Darmstadt
The Bessungen Boys' School will become the center of Argentine tango on April 30, 2025. The ensemble Tango Marcando will present music from one hundred years of tango history, bringing the passion and depth of this unique musical tradition to the stage.
With an ensemble of strings, bandoneon, piano, guitar, and double bass, Tango Marcando follows in the tradition of the "orquesta típica" from Buenos Aires. Their repertoire ranges from original arrangements of the Golden Age of the 1940s and 50s to modern compositions and even includes the Tango Nuevo of Astor Piazzolla .
The singer Teresa Smolnik , a trained alto and member of the Stuttgart State Opera Chorus, lends the music a special intensity with her expressive voice. She developed her passion for tango in Buenos Aires and deepened it at the Tango Academy in Rotterdam.
After the concert, Tango Marcando invites everyone to a milonga 9:30 pm . All dance enthusiasts can dance to live music and the sounds of the well-known Heidelberg tango DJ Michael Arlt .
The ensemble Tango Marcando consists of Claudia Louise Weigand (violin), Georg Lehr (cello), Norbert Kotzan (bandoneon), Zhanna Popolitova (accordion), Margarete Schurmann-Spengler (piano), Kai Spengler (double bass) and Teresa Smolnik (vocals).
