TCB celebrates with senior championships, a 25-hour tournament and an ITF women's tournament
The Bessungen 2000 Darmstadt Tennis Club (TCB) 25th anniversary this year with a sporting anniversary program at its club grounds behind the racecourse . The focus will be on three major events that will fittingly celebrate the club's quarter-century history: the Hessian Senior Championships , a 25-hour tournament , and the 49th International Women's Tennis World Ranking Tournament "Tennis International" .
Founded in 2000 from the former tennis section of the Bessungen Gymnastics Club, TCB now has around 600 members , making it one of the most successful tennis clubs in Darmstadt. In addition to recreational and youth tennis, the club is also represented in the Regionalliga Süd-Südwest – the highest German league for women over 40.
Three major tournament highlights for the anniversary
The anniversary summer kicks off with the Hessian Senior Championships of the Hessian Tennis Association (HTV) . Between June 16th and 22nd, players aged 30 to 80 in various age groups at the Darmstadt-Bessungen tennis club. The HTV entrusted the TCB with organizing the tournament in recognition of the club's reliable organization and high quality.
Another sporting highlight is the unusual 25-hour tournament : From Thursday, July 18 (starting at 7 p.m.) to Friday, July 19 (8 p.m.), tennis will be played continuously – even at night under floodlights. The event will conclude with a celebration on the festival grounds featuring DJ D-Zero .
As the highlight of the anniversary year, the 49th ITF women's tennis tournament "Tennis International" July 14th to 20th . It is the oldest world ranking tournament of its kind in Germany. Many later top players collected their first world ranking points here. The slogan "Whoever plays in Bessungen will go far" has long since become a trademark – and reflects the special significance of the tournament for international tennis.
Commitment and support of young talent
TCB is not only successful in sports, but also an active supporter of children's and youth tennis. With a wide range of training opportunities and strong youth development programs, the club contributes to the growth of young talent in the region. Volunteer work and a welcoming, family-like atmosphere are key elements of this.
