New news platform launched for southern Hesse
Ulrich Diehl Verlag officially launched its new news platform DA.news at a press conference on Wednesday, February 10th at 1 p.m. UDVM Managing Director Ulrich Diehl presented the portal to approximately 15 members of the press and outlined the goals and features of the new digital offering.
DA.news is aimed at the diverse population of Darmstadt and the South Hesse region. The news portal provides information several times a day on current events in the areas of culture, politics, business, sports, and society , consciously focusing on barrier-free and multilingual access to regularly provide 50,000 users by the end of 2025

A special focus is placed on the cultural offerings , which build upon the extensive resources of the predecessor portal, Darmstadt's cultural news site. In a city with a vibrant scene of music, literature, cabaret, and visual arts, DA.news will be a central forum for cultural reporting. Introducing clubs and associations and showing users opportunities for participation and (sporting) activity – that is also a goal of the portal's creators.

Furthermore, the platform offers practical service information for citizens. Municipalities can present their digital services , for example, regarding administrative processes such as renewing an identity card. The "Jobs and Opportunities" complements the business section and connects local companies with skilled workers – an area where synergies arise with the print media of UDVM Verlag .
also play an important role in the 2025 federal elections : parties will have the opportunity to present their programs in several languages in order to reach a broad electorate.
“A multilingual news portal like DA.news was long overdue,” emphasizes Ulrich Diehl , initiator and project manager. Darmstadt is an international city with people from over 150 nations . 20.8 percent of the population are foreign nationals , the largest groups coming from Turkey, Italy, Poland, Greece, and India.
Mayor Hanno Benz praised the initiative:
“Ulrich Diehl and his publishing house stand for media diversity in Darmstadt and the region. The new portal www.DA.news is a valuable addition to a constantly changing media landscape. The multilingual aspect, in particular, is a remarkable service that makes it easier for many people to access important information.”

DA.news deliberately avoids a paywall to allow all users free access to its content. Students, international professionals, migrants, and tourists benefit from this open access.
“DA.news is a reliable source for regional news and contributes to better networking and integration. Our goal is to break down language barriers and give all citizens the opportunity to actively participate in social life in Darmstadt,” said Ulrich Diehl. With this comprehensive, accessible, and modern offering, DA.news is setting new standards for regional news portals in southern Hesse.
