Science city of Darmstadt and BS Kulturstiftung present art in public space from April 26 to October 26, 2025
From April 26 to October 26, 2025, Darmstadt becomes the scene of international sculpture: The renowned artist Tony Cragg shows ten of his sculptures on an art stitch between Mathildenhöhe and the Rosenhöhe Park. The initiator is the BS Cultural Foundation Darmstadt , which together with the Science City of Darmstadt realizes this extraordinary project.
The art stake begins at the Mathildenhöhe and ends at the Spanish tower in the sculpture garden of the BS Cultural Foundation in the Park Rosenhöhe. The construction of the works of art starts on March 25th. Da.news offers further information on the exhibition at da.news/tony-cragg .
Connection of art, nature and World Heritage Site
Mayor Hanno Benz emphasizes the special charm of the exhibition:
"The viewing relationships between the rose height and the wedding tower are part of the visitor experience and are part of the UNESCO World Heritage. The sculptures of Tony Cragg strengthen this connection and create an extraordinary art experience on the way between these historical places."
City Councilor Michael Kolmer also emphasizes the importance of public space:
"The works of art fit into the historical garden image of the rose height. It was particularly important to choose locations where the sculptures can work without affecting the park."
Tony Cragg: sculptures, inspired by nature
The sculptures by Tony Cragg , one of the most important sculptors of the present, correspond to nature. The artist born in Liverpool has been living in Wuppertal since 1977, where he runs the Waldfrieden sculpture park . His works were shown, among others, in the Louvre, in the Kunstpalast Düsseldorf and at the Documenta in Kassel. Public sculptures of him can be found worldwide, for example in Tokyo, Bonn or Venice.
Gentle structure and high -quality presentation
Dr. Brigitte and Ulrich Scheinert, founder of the BS Cultural Foundation, emphasize:
"The exhibition is implemented in such a way that the park landscape is spared. Any impairments are of course eliminated. We are pleased to offer the Darmstadt residents a summer art experience."
The Park Rosenhöhe is a gardening gem and in 2023 received the "Gartenoskar" for outstanding care and biodiversity. The exhibition with Cragg's works complements the existing Kunstensenemble of the park, which includes sculptures by Gotthelf Schlotter and Thomas Duttenhöfer.
