Loan deal with Alemannia Aachen aims to secure playing time / Fernie: “Optimal development opportunities for Fabio”
SV Darmstadt 98 has prematurely extended the contract with Fabio Torsiello and simultaneously agreed a loan for the upcoming season: The 20-year-old attacking player will move to Alemannia Aachen in the 3rd division.
Torsiello is from Darmstadt and has been part of the Lilies' youth academy since 2016. In December 2022, he signed his first professional contract with SV 98. He was most recently on loan to SpVgg Unterhaching scored three goals in 17 appearances during the second half of last season's third division campaign .
Further development in focus
Sporting director Paul Fernie explains the decision as follows:
“For his continued development, Fabio needs regular playing time – as he has already received in Unterhaching in recent months. Therefore, we jointly decided on the contract extension and the renewed loan move. We are convinced that Aachen offers optimal opportunities for him to take the next steps.”
The loan to Alemannia is part of SV 98's long-term youth development strategy. The aim is to give young players early playing experience in the professional sector in order to specifically prepare them for the level of the 2nd Bundesliga.
