OWK Groß-Gerau kicks off the new hiking year
With warm greetings and best wishes for the new hiking year, 62 enthusiastic hikers met to embark on the first tour of 2025. Despite the wintry temperatures, the hikers enjoyed the beautiful scenery. A warming drink from hiking guide Peter Jung was also welcome before both groups set off from the meeting point in Hassloch.
The hikers reached the forest along the Horlachgraben, which was lightly covered in ice. Passing the Rüsselsheim Nature Friends House and the now-abandoned wild boar enclosure in the Raunheim Forest, the OWK members arrived at the rustic "Zum Bembelsche" inn for their lunch break. Group 2, who had chosen a shorter route, had already arrived. Groups 1 and 2, along with those who had driven, were then able to enjoy their meal together.

Both groups returned to the starting point together. Chairman Wolfgang Schmall thanked the hike leaders for organizing and leading the tour, during which Group 1 hiked 10 km and Group 2 hiked 7 km. The hike was led by Reiner Dietz, Evi Guntermann, Andreas Grund, Peter Jung, and Reinhard Roth. They are already looking forward to seeing everyone again at the carnival celebration on February 9th at the Ruhland community hall in Nauheim and at the herring dinner on March 5th at the clubhouse.
