Pedestrian and bicycle traffic affected / Access to the town hall remains open
The second phase of the Darmstadt town hall renovation is entering its next stage. Starting Wednesday, June 26, 2025, Schillerstraße will be completely closed to traffic in front of the town hall . This closure is necessary because the construction site will be expanded the following day (June 27) with additional containers and areas for storage and assembly.
Pedestrians, cyclists, and motorists are affected . However, access for residents will remain possible.
Town hall remains accessible – detour for pedestrians
Visitors the main entrance. The large parking lot to the east of the town hall, towards Wolfsweg, will also remain fully open.
Pedestrians coming from the south (Bessunger Straße) are asked to use the access via the eastern parking lot along the green area.
Construction work on the town hall square began at the end of May. Bicycle racks were moved, planters rearranged, a streetlamp removed, and trees and green spaces secured or trimmed back. Construction fences have marked the construction area ever since.
