Mayor Akdeniz: "Our project has successfully conveyed unemployed and low -qualified people in training and work"
The project “Wake up potential - discover - training from 25” was successfully completed after two years at the end of 2024. The aim of the project was to convey unemployed and low -qualified people aged 25 and over, especially with a migration background. At the same time, it supported small and medium -sized companies (SMEs) that had difficulty finding suitable trainees.
Successful mediations in training and work
The project was in cooperation with the Baff Frauer-Cooperation gGmbH and the Werkhof e. V. implemented under the direction of the science city of Darmstadt. The results speak for themselves:
- 34 participants began training, especially in professional fields such as geriatric care, care and educational professions.
- 83 people found employment subject to social security contributions, including professions such as painters and painters, construction workers and welders.
- 6 participants started qualification or further training.
- 6 more people took up further school training.
The participants were supported comprehensively - from professional orientation to application training to accompanying them in personal challenges. This individual support led to significantly improved employment.
"The project has successfully won new specialists for Darmstadt in occupational fields that are particularly affected by the shortage of skilled workers. We strengthen our economy and give people new perspectives," emphasizes Mayor Barbara Akdeniz .
New project "self -effective" started
In order to build on this success, the Baff women cooperation in January 2025 launched 24-month project "itself effectively" This is still aimed at adults from the age of 25 without (recognized) vocational training. The aim is to strengthen the resilience and self -efficacy of the participants and to convey them specifically in training, work or qualification.

Just like the project "Wake up potential - discover opportunities - training from 25" is also "even effectively strong" by means of the state of Hesse and the European Social Fund Plus (ESF+) Hessen . The science city of Darmstadt supports the project financially as part of municipal employment funding.
