The regional government secures the future with vocational training and dual studies
The Darmstadt Regional Council welcomed new trainees on September 1, 2025. Regional President Prof. Dr. Jan Hilligardt greeted 20 trainee inspectors who are beginning their training in the dual study program "Public Administration" or "Digital Administration".
Over the next three years, the probationary civil servants will complete a course of study at the Hessian University of Public Management and Security in Wiesbaden or Mühlheim am Main, combined with practical phases in the departments of the RP.
Reinforcements in the environmental administration
In addition, eight new trainee senior inspectors began their training in the higher technical service of the environmental administration. This practice-oriented training provides specialist knowledge in water management, soil protection, air pollution control, waste management, and mining supervision. Upon successful completion, the trainees are generally hired into the environmental departments of the regional council.

"The training of young talent is very important to us here at the Darmstadt Regional Council. Training and developing our own staff is the key to a sustainable and successful future," emphasized Regional President Hilligardt.
Further junior staff and takeovers
In addition to the new study and training positions, the Darmstadt Regional Council has appointed nine inspectors to probationary civil servant status after they completed their preparatory service. Furthermore, nine employees received permanent civil servant status after successfully completing their probationary period.

In August, three new trainees also began their apprenticeships as administrative assistants. Over the next three years, they will attend vocational school, administrative seminars, and practical placements in the specialist departments.
