Regional Council secures future with training and dual study programs
The Darmstadt Regional Council welcomed new junior staff to the start of their training on September 1, 2025. District President Prof. Dr. Jan Hilligardt welcomed 20 inspector trainees who will begin their training in the dual study program "Public Administration" or "Digital Administration."
Over the next three years, the civil servants on probation will complete a course of study at the Hessian University of Public Management and Security in Wiesbaden or Mühlheim am Main, combined with practical phases in the departments of the RP.
Reinforcement in environmental administration
In addition, eight new senior inspector trainees began their training in the higher technical service of the environmental administration. This practice-oriented training provides specialist knowledge in water management, soil protection, pollution control, waste management, and mining supervision. Upon successful completion, the trainees are generally hired by the environmental departments of the RP.

"The training of young talent is very important to us here at the Darmstadt Regional Council. Training and developing our own talent is the key to a sustainable and successful future," emphasized District President Hilligardt.
Further junior staff and acquisitions
In addition to the new study and training positions, the Darmstadt Regional Court has appointed nine inspectors to probationary civil service positions after completing their preparatory service. Furthermore, nine employees were granted permanent civil service status after successfully completing their probationary period.

Three new administrative assistant trainees also began their training in August. Over the next three years, they will complete vocational school, administrative seminars, and practical placements in specialist departments.
State authority with a broad range of tasks
The Darmstadt Regional Council employs more than 1,600 people at three large and several smaller locations. As a state-level authority, it acts as a link between municipalities and the state government. Its responsibilities range from refugee affairs to occupational safety, environmental and nature conservation, and explosive ordnance disposal.
