Opening with artist talk / Applications for the 2026 exhibition year possible until June 25th
The Regional Gallery of Southern Hesse at the Darmstadt Regional Council presents the exhibition "TRANSITION" Tuesday, June 3. On display are drawing installations by Verena Freyschmidt and wood sculptures by Dr. Paul Hirsch . The opening reception begins at 6 p.m. in the north foyer of the main building at Luisenplatz 2 and will be opened by Regional President Prof. Dr. Jan Hilligardt .
During an artist talk, the two artists will discuss their works and artistic positions. The exhibition is supported by the South Hesse Cultural Summer and will be on display until July 30th .
Opening hours and registration
The exhibition is open on weekdays , specifically:
- Monday to Thursday : 10 am to 4:30 pm
- Friday : 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

The call for artists for 2026 is open until June 25th.
Artists from the Rhine-Main/South Hesse for an exhibition in 2026 until June 25, 2025. The Regional Gallery of South Hesse sees itself as a forum for diverse art forms – below the museum threshold and without competing with professional galleries.
Only written applications with eight to ten photos of current work . An independent artistic advisory board, together with the board of the sponsoring association, will decide on the selection. The final annual plan will be drawn up after studio visits.

With the Regional Gallery of Southern Hesse, the Regional Council makes an active contribution to regional cultural promotion and exchange . The gallery primarily showcases works by regional artists.
