Strong performances and close decisions at the gymnastics competition
At the Main-Rhine Cup in Biebesheim, the gymnasts of TSV Pfungstadt impressed with strong performances and great team spirit. The club fielded a total of five young athletes and experienced a competition characterized by excitement and incredibly close finishes.
Solid start in the first round
In the first round, Lilly Axt and Cara Edel showcased their skills in various competitions within their age groups. Cara Edel impressed with cleanly executed P4 and P5 routines, achieving a strong seventh place. Lilly Axt competed in the P2 and P3 categories, finishing in 18th place, but still ahead of more than 20 competitors.
Top marks on the horizontal bar in the second round
In the second part of the competition, Mia Braun, Sarah Ilie, and Lena Kreyenschulte competed in the all-around gymnastics event. The three gymnasts consistently presented solid P4 routines and even attempted the higher P5 level on vault.
The trio made a particularly strong impression on the horizontal bar: Here, all three achieved the best scores among the 34 participants.
The best Pfungstadt competitor of the day was Sarah Ilie with a strong eighth place, closely followed by Lena Kreyenschulte in ninth place. Mia Braun finished in 15th place.
Decisions in the tenths range
The competition demonstrated once again why the Main-Rhine Cup is considered by experts to be a "competition down to the tenth of a point". The smallest mistakes had an immediate impact on the rankings.
Mia Braun lost several places due to a mistake during her handstand roll on the floor – ultimately, only half a point made the difference. The decision was even closer for Sarah Ilie, who missed the podium by a mere 0.55 points.
Strong team spirit and positive development
Despite the close results, the competition remains a complete success for TSV Pfungstadt. The young gymnasts impressed with consistent performances, great commitment, and positive development that bodes well for future competitions.
