Dr. Nadja Rakowitz will speak on October 27th about militarization and its consequences
Darmstadt. Under the title "Turning Point in Healthcare? Effects of Increasing Militarization on Health and Care", a lecture followed by a discussion will take place on Monday, October 27, 2025 , at 7 p.m. in the Open House, Rheinstraße 31 .
The speaker is Dr. Nadja Rakowitz , co-managing director and press spokesperson of the Association of Democratic Physicians, based in Maintal. The event is jointly organized by the Protestant Deanery of Darmstadt , the Darmstadt Peace Alliance , and the Association of Democratic Physicians .
Impact of armaments on health and care
The evening's focus will be on the consequences of the political "turning point" for the healthcare system. The presentation will examine how the increasing military buildup in Germany and Europe also indirectly affects the healthcare and long-term care systems .
Rising defense spending often leads to cuts in other public areas , including health and care. Furthermore, societal tensions and military threats impact mental health through stress, anxiety disorders, and trauma , affecting both patients and healthcare professionals.
