Investigations by the Hessian State Criminal Police Office are underway
On Tuesday morning (March 11, 2025), police officers discharged their firearms in Cologne Street in the Darmstadt Waldkolonie district , fatally injuring a 61-year-old man . The Hessian State Criminal Police Office (HLKA) has taken over the investigation to clarify the exact sequence of events.
Operation escalates – police use firearms
According to current information, a police patrol from Darmstadt, along with social services , was called to the 61-year-old's apartment at around 8:30 a.m. The man allegedly refused the officers entry and then brandished a firearm through an open window . It is possible the weapon was also used , whereupon the police officers discharged their service weapons .
The 61-year-old was fatally injured. The police officers and the social worker involved were unharmed.
