Water features and swings destroyed – damage found at several installations
The town of Griesheim is once again facing extensive vandalism at several public playgrounds. The forest playground , where water play area had to be shut down again at the end of May – just a few weeks after its reopening in April . Unknown perpetrators had torn off the handle of the water pump.

Repeated damage also occurred at the St. Stephans Platz , where the swing set had been tampered with several times. As a result, a toddler swing seat was installed as a replacement.

“We are only at the beginning of the play season. It is very unfortunate when we already have to dismantle or close off equipment due to vandalism,” explains Daniel Landau , playground coordinator for the city of Griesheim.
Consequences for everyone – the city reports every incident to the police
The repairs not only incur additional costs but also tie up personnel resources. Ultimately, the citizens themselves suffer, as the infrastructure can no longer be used as intended. Funds spent on repairs are then lacking elsewhere – for example, for new investments in playgrounds and leisure facilities.
