New Year's reception attracts mayor and new members
The VdK local chapter in Rüsselsheim traditionally began the new year with a well-attended New Year's reception, according to a recent press release. Around 100 guests gathered on the town square on February 2, 2025, to toast the new year together.
In a relaxed atmosphere, the board welcomed, among others, Mayor Murat Karakaya, several chairpersons of neighboring local associations, as well as the deputy state chairman and district chairman Patrick Nau. Despite the cold temperatures, around 100 cups of hot punch and about 50 portions of Spundekäs (a type of cheese spread) ensured a pleasant atmosphere and good conversation.
The association also gained several new members at the event. With approximately 2,090 members, the VdK local chapter in Rüsselsheim is one of the five largest local chapters in Hesse and Thuringia and the largest of the 24 local chapters in the Groß-Gerau district. The volunteer board looks forward to welcoming interested individuals to future events. Dates can be found under " Events" .
