The Darmstadt Music Society invites you to a concert on April 27th with works by Gabrieli, Willaert and Croce
The Darmstadt Music Society presents a special spring concert at St. Paul's Church on Sunday, April 27, 2025, at 7 p.m. Under the direction of Thomas Höpp, the program features works by important choirmasters of St. Mark's Basilica in Venice – composers who decisively shaped Renaissance music.
The centerpiece of the evening is Andrea Gabrieli's "Missa brevis." The program is complemented by psalms and a Magnificat by Adrian Willaert, which were part of the traditional canonical hours in the Venetian liturgy. Three compositions by Giovanni Croce form the choral conclusion of the concert.
The choir and chamber choir of the music society will be accompanied by the Salvatoris Consort on period instruments. The repertoire also includes instrumental works played on viols, cornetts, and trombones – instruments that lend a special authenticity to the sound of the Venetian era.
Tickets are available for €20 via ztix.de (plus booking fee) and at the box office. Concessionary tickets for students, pupils, and people with disabilities cost €15. Further information can be found Darmstadt Music Association
