Musikverein Darmstadt invites you to a concert on April 27 with works by Gabrieli, Willaert and Croce
The Musikverein Darmstadt will present a special spring concert in the Pauluskirche on Sunday, April 27, 2025, at 7 p.m. Under the direction of Thomas Höpp, works of important bandmaster of the Markus Cathedral in Venice are on the program - composers who decisively shaped the music of the Renaissance.
Andrea Gabrieli's “Missa Brevis” is the focus of the evening. The program is complemented by psalms and a Magnificat by Adrian Willaert, which in the Venetian liturgy belonged to the tradition of hourly prayers. Three compositions by Giovanni Croce form the choral end of the concert.
The choir and chamber choir of the music association is accompanied by the ensemble Salvatoris Consort to historical instruments. The repertoire also includes instrumental works, played on gamben, zinc and trombones - instruments that give the sound of the Venetian era special authenticity.
Tickets are available for 20 euros via ztix.de (plus advance booking fee) and at the box office. Diseased tickets for students, students and severely disabled costs 15 euros. Further information can be found on the website of the Darmstadt Music Association .
