The city is showing its colors for the nationwide Veterans Day on June 15th.
On the occasion of the nationwide Veterans Day on Sunday, June 15, 2025 , the science city of Darmstadt expresses its thanks and appreciation former soldiers of the German Armed Forces .
First introduced in 2024, Veterans Day aims to raise public awareness of the achievements of former members of the German Armed Forces. Many of them served under sometimes difficult conditions both at home and abroad. Their service deserves societal appreciation, respect, and support .
Signs of recognition at Luisenplatz
To mark the anniversary, the Federal Minister of the Interior has ordered flags to be flown nationwide. In Darmstadt, the German flag will also be raised in Luisenplatz as a visible sign of recognition.
In the future, Veterans Day should be understood annually as a day of remembrance and recognition for the approximately ten million people who have served in the ranks of the Bundeswehr since its founding.
