City of Griesheim relies on animal landscape maintenance for the nature rejuvenation of the city forest
The six donkeys of the Griesheim landscape care farm have covered a new area of application this week: an area west of the football field now serves as a grazing area as part of forest maintenance. The aim is to push the strongly rampant land riding grass back and thus promote natural rejuvenation of the forest
Nature conservation with four -legged friends
Since 2022, the city of Griesheim has been based on a sustainable method for landscape maintenance: The donkeys are targeting selected areas in the city forest and thus contribute to the restoration of a diverse forest floor. Previously, they were already active on areas near the Gerhart Hauptmann School (Kirschberg) and at the forest playground .
The grazing helps to create new herbaceous plants, shrubs and trees The project is long -term - further areas in the urban area will follow during the year.
Welcome to visit - but please without food
The donkeys are clearly visible from the way and are welcome to be observed. However, the landscape nursing station urges not to feed . The number specified on the electricity warning signs is available for questions or information. In urgent cases, the farm can be reached at 0160/99 65 69 94 .
