Advent concerts in Heidelberg and Darmstadt with Markus Majowski as narrator
The Darmstadt Concert Choir announces that its traditional Advent concerts, "A Journey Through Advent," will take place again this year on the second weekend of Advent. The choir will perform at St. Peter's Church in Heidelberg (Plöck 70) on Saturday, December 6, at 7 p.m., and at St. Paul's Church in Darmstadt on Sunday, December 7, at 5 p.m.
Markus Majowski takes on the role of narrator.
This year's event will feature actor and comedian Markus Majowski. He is known for his roles in the TV series "Die dreisten Drei" and as the dwarf "Cookie" in Otto Waalkes' film "Sieben Zwerge – allein im Wald" (Seven Dwarfs – Alone in the Woods). Majowski will present reflective and humorous texts about Advent and Christmas.
Varied musical program
Between the readings, the concert choir will present Advent music in a variety of tonal colors. The program includes a cappella works and choral music with instrumental accompaniment. The Da Ponte String Quartet and organist Jan Wilke will also participate. Wolfgang Seeliger will conduct. Traditionally, the concert will conclude with the congregation singing "O du fröhliche" (O How Joyful).
