The city of science is participating in the nationwide warning day on September 11th
On Thursday, September 11, the city of Darmstadt will participate in the nationwide warning day. Starting at 11:00 a.m., sirens will sound throughout the city, and warnings will simultaneously be issued via familiar warning apps such as NINA and hessenWARN , as well as on electronic city information boards. For the first time, the test alarm will also be sent directly to compatible mobile phones via cell broadcast .
The test alarm begins with a one-minute-long, rising and falling siren, which serves as a "warning to the population" . At 11:45 a.m., the test ends with a one-minute continuous tone as the "all clear.
Behavior in the event of a genuine warning
In case of an emergency, citizens should observe the following measures:
- Seek shelter indoors, close doors and windows
- Turn on the radio or television and listen to the announcements
- Inform your neighbors
- Warning apps like NINA or hessenWARN monitor
- Switch off ventilation and air conditioning systems
Cell Broadcast: Warning directly to your mobile phone
Cell Broadcast enables direct delivery of warning messages to mobile phones – even without an installed app. This requires a current operating system and activated test alerts in the notification settings. The Federal Office of Civil Protection and Disaster Relief (BBK) .
