Hesse test alarm on March 13 – Raising public awareness of warning signals
On March 13, 2025, sirens will sound throughout Hesse starting at 10:15 a.m. – because on this day, the statewide warning day will take place. The aim of this day of action is to raise public awareness of the various warning signals and warning systems and to test the functionality of the technical warning infrastructure.
In addition to the sirens, other warning systems will also be tested, including the federal government's cell broadcast system HessenWARN warning app . The test alarm will begin at 10:15 a.m. , followed by an all-clear signal at 10:50 a.m. Both signals will last one minute.
Test run for emergencies and disaster warnings
The nationwide warning day is intended to increase acceptance of and knowledge about emergency warnings. Citizens should learn through the test alert how to correctly interpret the various warning signals and react appropriately in a real emergency.
A nationwide warning day is not new: The nationwide warning day in autumn has already established itself as a regular event. Now, individual federal states are also implementing their own statewide warning days . In Hesse, this will take place for the first time on the second Thursday in March .

When will the population be warned?
A warning can be issued for various reasons:
